Event Details

This course is the perfect introduction to making traditional leather goods as well as fashion accessories. It will provide you with the core skills to make leather products and lay a sound foundation for progressing to more advanced projects.
THE FOLLOWING FUNDAMENTALS ARE COVERED:
# Gaining an understanding of different leather types and tools.
# Hand coloring of vegetable tanned leather.
# Becoming competent at using hand tools.
# Hand sewing with waxed thread and two needles.
# Understanding the process of manufacturing.
# Making a paper pattern and transferring it onto leather.
# Fitting and securing metal hardware, including zips.
# Edge finishing techniques.
# Debossing
# Maintenance and care of leather.
# Supplier information.
COST: R13 500 pp
This includes a start-up toolbox to the value of R3 500, all material, refreshments and a light lunch.
50% deposit to secure the booking and balance 14 days prior to the course commencement date.
